About the role

We’re excited to be recruiting a Data Selections Analyst to help WWF-UK make better use of supporter data across fundraising, communications and engagement. Sitting within the CRM & Data Services team, you’ll play a hands-on role in turning campaign and reporting requirements into accurate data selections, automated supporter journeys, dashboards and practical insight. You’ll work with colleagues across Fundraising, Communications, Technology and Operations & People to understand what they need from the data, translate those requirements into reliable outputs and help ensure supporters receive relevant, timely and appropriate communications.

A key part of the role will be using the Apteco suite to create campaign selections, build and improve automated supporter journeys and support segmentation, testing and reporting. You’ll also develop and maintain dashboards in Power BI and Apteco Orbit, helping colleagues understand campaign performance and access the information they need more easily. You’ll work closely with complex datasets, checking selection logic, investigating unexpected results and identifying opportunities to improve data quality and processes. You’ll also support the import and maintenance of supporter data within Microsoft Dynamics 365 and associated platforms, making sure information remains accurate, complete and trusted.

WWF-UK has recently introduced Microsoft Dynamics 365, is moving towards Power BI as its main reporting platform and is expanding its use of Apteco across marketing activity. This role offers the opportunity to be part of that ongoing development and build your technical expertise across these platforms. Alongside the technical work, you’ll provide practical support and guidance to colleagues using supporter data, including through the Data Services helpdesk and training sessions. You’ll help make data easier to understand and use, translating technical concepts into clear advice for people with different levels of data experience.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems and getting into the detail. You’ll be curious, organised and comfortable working independently, while also enjoying collaborating with colleagues to improve how data and technology support the supporter experience.

Skills and experience

  • Experience working with complex datasets to produce accurate data selections, reporting or insight
  • Experience using data or marketing technology tools to create campaign selections, supporter journeys, segmentation or reporting
  • Experience using data visualisation or reporting tools, such as Power BI, to create clear and useful dashboards or reports
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate data issues and identify practical solutions
  • Strong numerical and digital skills, with confidence working with data to support decision-making
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality
  • Experience checking data, selection criteria or outputs to make sure they are accurate and meet the original requirement
  • Ability to explain data or technical concepts clearly to colleagues who may not have a technical background
  • Experience providing practical advice, support or guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently on defined pieces of work while collaborating effectively on larger or more complex projects
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Understanding of the importance of data protection, consent and the responsible use of supporter or customer data
  • A curious and proactive approach, with an interest in developing technical skills and improving processes
  • Experience using the Apteco suite, including FastStats, PeopleStage or Orbit
  • Experience building or managing automated supporter or customer journeys
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or another CRM platform
  • Experience importing, validating or transforming data across different systems
  • Experience creating or maintaining data-loading processes, mapping rules or validation checks
  • Knowledge of MS-SQL or another data querying language
  • Experience working with fundraising, marketing, supporter or customer data
  • Experience working with external suppliers, agencies or technology partners
  • Experience providing training or support to users of data or CRM systems
  • Experience contributing to improvements in data quality, reporting or operational processes
