Overview
Mid – Senior level. Fully remote in the UK available. 12-month Fixed Term Contract
As a VFX Artist at Wushu Studios, you will be responsible for creating stunning visual effects that enhance gameplay and immerse players in our worlds. You will work closely with designers, artists, and developers to integrate effects that contribute to the overall aesthetic and user experience of our games.
Responsibilities
- Design and produce a variety of visual effects, such as particle systems and environmental effects (water, dust, fire).
- Create and test any new tools before they go live, and make sure we\\\’re always sharing knowledge with the team.
- Work proactively to identify and solve problems before they impact the development team.
- Help to implement new techniques that can make our art creation faster and better.
- Ensure our content looks amazing across all platforms via optimisation.
- Liaising with other team members, acting as the bridge between art and programming teams, to keep things running smoothly.
- Ensure any technical constraints and the reasons behind them are communicated effectively to the art team, in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience working with Unreal Engine.
- Experience with VFX Niagara systems
- Solid understanding of visual aesthetics, lighting, composition, and artistic principles.
- Good knowledge of CG fundamentals (modelling, texturing, shading, lighting etc) within Maya, Max, Blender or similar.
- Ability to debug and optimise complex assets and implement efficient rendering and VFX techniques.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skillset.
Desirable
- Good knowledge of embergen, houdini or another rendering software to develop sprite sheets and meshes for VFX
- Good knowledge of photoshop in terms of developing VFX
