About WUKA
WUKA is a fast-growing consumer brand with established product-market fit across thousands of Tesco stores and Boots locations. While our retail presence is strong, 80% of our business is driven directly through our digital e-commerce infrastructure. We are expanding our technical capabilities to build a modern, AI-driven data and automation layer. This role will work directly alongside our technology leadership, who brings over 20 years of experience scaling software architectures, including a successful IPO and various venture-backed startups. Instead of maintaining rigid legacy enterprise platforms, you will have the autonomy to build a next-generation application ecosystem from the ground up. This system will leverage advanced LLM workflows to handle business intelligence, supply chain data orchestration, and automated marketing creative science.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy internal business intelligence applications and data connectors that interface with our ecommerce systems.
- Build backend automation workflows using Node.js, Python, or n8n and data ingestion from ad platforms like Meta, TikTok, and Google.
- Partner with our e-commerce engineers to deploy storefront features and structural updates using the CLI, Next.js, and modern API layers.
- Maintain data tracking integrity by implementing Tag Manager setups and managing Conversion APIs across multi-channel customer journeys.
- Integrate modern AI developer tooling into the daily engineering pipeline to optimize development velocity and code reliability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional full-stack engineering experience in a commercial environment.
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript/React, Next.js, Node.js, and backend environments using Python or Ruby on Rails.
- Direct experience integrating LLM APIs, handling structured JSON/XML prompting schemas, and designing multi-agent automation workflows.
- Familiarity with the mechanics of digital commerce.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively on-site in a collaborative, fast-paced technical environment.
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship and collaboration with an experienced technology leader.
- Full technical ownership over a modern, AI-integrated software roadmap.
- A practical, execution-focused workspace where your code directly affects business growth and operational scaling.
- Flexible work hours and WFH 1 day per week.
- Private BUPA health plan, company pension.
- Discretionary bonus of up to 5% base salary.

How to prepare for a job interview at WUKA
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If WUKA uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
✨Showcase Your Projects
Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.
✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions
While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
