We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bid Manager to join our dynamic team in WTW – GB Retail. As a Bid Manager, you will be responsible for leading the bid management process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, winning proposals to potential clients. You will manage and develop bids in response to offensive or defensive RFPs from prospects and customers including attending client meetings, developing our key messaging around winning and defending accounts, designing and driving our approach to client/prospect presentations, co-ordinating the team and managing contributions from all stakeholders.
Aside from bid management duties, this role provides chances to evolve into a trusted advisor in project management, engaging directly with key internal stakeholders, clients and prospects. Although based in London, this role is national and the successful applicant will also have the opportunity to lead projects across the UK working with other geographies as and when necessary.
Previous experience of working in the insurance sector would be an advantage and proficiency with software packages including MS Word, XL and PowerPoint is essential.
The Role
- Take responsibility over major bids and strategic accounts.
- Gain an understanding of the requirements of our clients and potential clients and draw upon this insight to create compelling propositions.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as the Sales and Business Development teams to gather relevant information, insights, and data necessary for bid development.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and act as a primary point of contact and trusted project management advisor throughout the bidding process (pre and post-bid).
- Attending sales and client retention meetings to develop our strategic approach to winning and retaining business.
- Designing Presentation materials (placemats, trifolds and PowerPoints) and leading and coaching the presentation team.
- Undertaking strategic challenge reviews on behalf of existing clients.
- Co‑ordinating the WTW team including managing and refining content from all stakeholders.
- Attending Client and Prospect meetings before or during the course of the tender process.
- Developing and contributing to a best practice library of content – improving the efficiency of information sharing across the team, to develop the best documents.
- Attending internal account development meetings – qualifying prospects and providing constructive challenge.
- Working alongside the team leader to implement best practices and processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the bid management function.
- Establish an environment that promotes respect for other colleagues and adheres to the policies and guidelines of the company.
Qualifications
- Previous experience within the insurance sector is highly advantageous.
- In-depth understanding of insurance products, market trends, and competitor landscape within the brokerage sector.
- High level Competency on all key MS applications including Word, XL & PowerPoint – knowledge of specialist design software or Artificial Intelligence software an advantage.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate cross‑functional teams, driving collaboration and achieving common objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and persuasive manner.
- To be willing to work as part of a team but have the self‑discipline to work on own initiative.
- Good organisational skills – ability to work to deadlines and to manage other people.
- Good interpersonal and people skills.
