The Role
We are seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to join our growing team. You will advise a broad range of clients on UK and international indirect tax matters, helping businesses navigate complex VAT and indirect tax issues while delivering practical, commercially focused solutions. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in building a modern, conflict-free tax advisory firm, working closely with senior leaders and clients in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on a wide range of UK VAT and indirect tax matters
- Provide practical and commercially focused advice on complex indirect tax issues and business transactions
- Support clients with VAT governance, risk management and compliance-related matters
- Advise on the indirect tax implications of business restructurings, acquisitions, disposals and other strategic projects
- Assist clients in managing VAT disputes, enquiries and interactions with HMRC
- Support businesses with international indirect tax considerations, including cross-border transactions and supply chain issues
- Interpret UK VAT legislation, case law and HMRC guidance, applying technical expertise to real-world commercial situations
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology to enhance client service and team efficiency
- Collaborate with colleagues across the WTS Global network on international indirect tax matters
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposals, networking and thought leadership initiatives
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Support, coach and develop junior team members
What We're Looking For
- Strong UK VAT technical expertise, with exposure to international indirect tax matters
- Experience advising businesses on indirect tax issues gained within a professional services firm, in-house tax team or HMRC
- Understanding of evolving indirect tax developments, including digital reporting and compliance requirements
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality technical advice
- Commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, practical advice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience building client relationships and supporting junior team development
