Working as a senior member of the seafreight export team, responsible for the end-to-end management of export shipments and supporting the delivery of a consistent, high-quality operation across all clients. This role plays a key part in maintaining operational stability, supporting team performance, and ensuring all shipments are handled accurately, efficiently, and with clear ownership within the UK operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of export shipments from booking through to final invoicing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance at all stages.
- Ensure operational excellence standards are consistently met across all shipments and clients.
- Support the wider team by sharing knowledge, guiding less experienced operators, and helping to maintain consistent standards.
- Work closely with the Export Manager to support team performance and maintain control of day-to-day operations.
- Ensure all invoicing, profit recognition, WIP, and accruals are completed accurately and in line with company policy.
- Implement new business effectively, ensuring a smooth and professional onboarding experience.
- Identify and resolve operational issues proactively, escalating where required.
Process & Operational Support
- Work in line with defined SOPs to ensure consistency and accuracy across all shipments.
- Maintain clear ownership of shipments within the UK team, ensuring accountability at all stages.
- Support the effective use of operational support functions where required.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, identifying and addressing any issues or inconsistencies.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work within your remit, ensuring jobs are completed right first time.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, highlighting any gaps or areas for improvement.
- Achieve monthly operational KPIs as specified.
- Support the ongoing development of systems, processes, and digital solutions.
Team Support & Stability
- Work collaboratively with Customer Excellence to ensure a seamless client experience.
Client, Supplier & Partner Relationships
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, agents, and suppliers.
- Ensure all communication is clear, timely, and professional.
- Contribute to a high standard of customer service and client satisfaction.
Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, including credit control and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate and complete records within CargoWise and associated systems.
- Escalate any risks, issues, or non-conformances appropriately.
Communication
- Ongoing communication with the Export Manager and wider operations team.
- Regular interaction with Customer Excellence, clients, partners, and suppliers as required.
Skills & Experience
- Strong operational experience in seafreight exports, including full documentation and process knowledge.
- Proven ability to manage shipments end-to-end with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to take ownership and work independently within a fast-paced environment.
- Confident in supporting and guiding other team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- CargoWise experience preferred.
- Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
Location: Hybrid with 3 days at our Manchester Head Office.
