Key Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware freight forwarder to support our Customer Excellence team on a temporary contract basis. This role requires strong multimodal freight experience, with a particular focus on road freight operations and food logistics. The successful candidate will be responsible for quoting, pricing, shipment coordination and operational support across domestic and international movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate multimodal freight operations.
- Prepare competitive customer quotations and pricing solutions.
- Support day-to-day freight forwarding operations from booking through to delivery.
- Liaise with hauliers, shipping lines and customers.
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve operational issues and delays.
- Ensure compliance with food transport requirements and relevant regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers and customers.
Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, including credit control and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate and complete records within CargoWise and associated systems.
- Escalate any risks, issues, or non-conformances appropriately.
Communication
- Ongoing communication with the Director of Customer Excellence and wider operations team.
- Regular interaction with clients, partners, and suppliers as required.
Skills & Experience
- Strong multimodal operational experience, including full documentation and process knowledge.
- Understanding of UK and European road freight operations.
- Experience working within food logistics or FMCG supply chains is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage shipments end-to-end with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to take ownership and work independently within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- CargoWise experience preferred.
- Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
