Financial Accountant | 12-Month Contract | £600-£700 per day | Immediate Start Available
If you're a Financial Accountant who enjoys improving how finance works as much as producing the numbers, this could be an interesting contract.
We're partnering with an established global investment management business that is strengthening its finance team during a significant accounting systems transition.
The role combines two areas that don't often sit together in a Financial Accountant position: ownership of core financial reporting and control, alongside hands-on involvement in a live systems migration. You'll take responsibility for the accounting and reporting of a portfolio of corporate entities, while working across Finance, IT and external specialists to ensure financial data remains accurate, complete and controlled as the business moves to its new system.
What you'll own
Your remit will include:
- Month-end close, journals, general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations
- Analysis of revenue, costs and variances, with responsibility for identifying trends, anomalies and risks
- Quarterly reporting for Board-level review
- Statutory accounts across multiple jurisdictions and management of the year-end audit for assigned entities
- Coordination of tax and statutory filing requirements with external advisers
- Reconciliation and validation of financial data between legacy and new accounting systems
- Investigation and resolution of migration discrepancies
- Testing of the new system, documenting outcomes and helping resolve issues before they affect financial reporting
- You'll work closely with colleagues across Finance and IT, as well as external consultants and advisers, giving you exposure beyond a conventional financial reporting remit.
What we're looking for
You'll be an ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant with strong practical financial accounting experience and the confidence to take ownership of your entities and deliverables.
We're particularly interested in people who bring:
- Strong financial control, statutory accounts and audit experience
- IFRS and relevant GAAP reporting knowledge
- Experience working with ERP or accounting systems and financial data
- Ideally, hands-on exposure to a system implementation, transition or data migration
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- The ability to investigate discrepancies rather than simply identify them
- Confidence balancing reporting deadlines with project work
- A practical, self-sufficient approach and strong stakeholder communication
