A little more about your role… The role is based from our WSP Shrewsbury office, with flexible working allowing for a mix of in-office and home working. There is also the potential for the role to be based in Birmingham, with travel to Shropshire required on a regular basis.
As a Senior Structural Engineer within our team your role will be varied but will include taking the lead on bridge maintenance designs - including scheme investigations, feasibility studies, detailed design, tender input, site inspections and construction supervision and assessment.
Other roles and responsibilities will include:
- Inspection of structures to DMRB and the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
- Provision of technical input to the agreement of project briefs, proposals, and deliverables with Project Managers.
- Carrying out the checking, certifying (AIP's) and authorising for issue, designs, documents, and reports.
- Manage the delivery of technical outputs of project teams.
- Demonstrate compliance with Health, Safety and Welfare and CDM responsibilities.
- Be an active and collaborative team member, and work with other disciplines, including the Client team.
- Contribute to technical excellence and innovation within the team.
- Potential for line management and mentoring opportunities.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Full Member of relevant professional body, CEng or IEng, or supporting evidence to demonstrate an advanced application for future submission.
- Experience working as a Structural Engineer with a focus on bridges and other highways structures.
- Evidence of being independently responsible for delivering complex projects.
- A commitment to working collaboratively and innovation.
