Senior Quantity Surveyor (PMCM Build) role at WSP – Glasgow, United Kingdom.

What you will do

  • You will play a pivotal role in pre- and post-contract Cost & Commercial Management services to our clients, including estimating, cost planning, procurement, cost assurance, and post-contract financial/commercial management of projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Depending on seniority and experience, you will deliver QS commercial services, potentially lead a QS/commercial team, train and mentor staff, bid writing, winning work, and engage in people leadership and representing WSP UK at industry events.
  • You will join a diverse, growing team of Cost Managers, Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors across multiple sectors and be part of our Project Management and Commercial Management Team (PMCM) – within the Buildings team in the UK.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • MRICS or AssocRICS or working towards a professional qualification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience around QS / Cost and Commercial competencies
  • Where applicable, demonstrable management, project leadership and delivery experience

Desirable

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to workload
  • Alternative or relevant professional qualification (e.g. CICES, AcostE) or working towards
  • Experience in Quantity Surveying or Cost and Commercial Management in public/private sectors, including heavy industry projects
  • Ability to travel between base office/onsite/other offices and project locations
  • Passion for making a difference and working in a dynamic team
  • Degree or higher education qualification
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and learn from past experiences
  • Familiarity with CostX and CEMAR or similar software
  • Working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT Contracts and other standard contract forms
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Previous experience in a QS/Cost and Commercial Management role in a consultant, contractor or client organisation
