Overview
At WSP, you will work on landmark projects across the UK in the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) discipline. You will embrace curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects for your discipline and for an overall project team; demonstrate personal input that led to successful delivery.
- Work with initiative and minimal supervision on technical aspects of your discipline.
- Interpret client needs and deliver full project delivery under clear client direction.
- Provide design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
- Supervise the completion of detailed designs and oversee the work of others.
- Lead overall feasibility study for the project and consider discipline specific feasibility.
- Direct the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
- Brief the project team regularly, including explaining the appointment.
- Review design programmes and ensure sufficient resources are available to complete the works.
Team
Our team consists of 35 engineers across Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health specialisms. Our sites are Brighton, Southampton, Heathrow, Basingstoke and Guildford, offering flexible office arrangements. You will report to our Technical Director for Mechanical engineering and work with graduate, assistant, senior and principal engineers, as well as BIM and Sustainability specialists.
Qualifications & Experience
- Accredited honours degree in Building Services Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Progressing towards Engineering Council chartership or IET Engineer/Chartered Building Services Engineer.
- Detailed understanding of regulations applicable to MEP and ability to demonstrate this through calculation.
- Working knowledge of latest electrical design software packages (RevitMEP or other 3D design software).
- Strong technical sketching and graphical communication skills.
- Ability to engage with clients and contractors in technical discussions.
- UK vetting level of Security Check (SC) required.
Technical Requirements
- Low voltage distribution systems, standby generation, UPS systems, cable and lighting calculations.
- Fire alarms, intruder detection, access control & security systems, disabled call systems.
- Data cabling and outlets, lightning protection.
