WSP are seeking Engineers with experience in Water, Drainage and Environmental Engineering for rivers and flood defence projects to expand the growth of our expertise and technical capability. We support clients and projects throughout the UK with a focus on the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and other asset management organisations, providing designs from concept through to detailed designs across a range of sectors.
We are looking for candidates at Engineer, Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer primarily located in the north of England, who could work from our Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, or Sheffield offices.
What you will do
- Delivery of a wide variety of civil engineering river and flood related schemes.
- Preparing and supporting business cases for works to protect from flooding.
- Developing outline and detailed designs for engineering flood projects including hydraulic systems, flood defences, drainage and ancillary structures.
- Working with wider infrastructure clients (internal and external) in designing hydraulic structures (culverts, weirs, walls, outfalls, scour protection, etc.) associated with large infrastructure projects in highways, rail and property.
- Preparing work schedules and specifications for contractors.
- Carrying out asset inspection works of above and below ground structures.
- Supervise construction works (supported by others where required).
- Working with local authorities and national environmentally based organisations.
What we are looking for you to demonstrate
- Degree qualified in civil or flood risk engineering.
- Experience post degree in hydraulic designs associated with river or flood defence works.
- Knowledge and understanding of flood and river diversion design principles and solutions.
- Experience in the use of CAD or Civil 3D.
- Site experience, ideally in a site supervision role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Demonstratable contribution to the successful delivery of projects/programmes meeting quality and commercial targets.
Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
