About the Role

The Energy Proposals Team plays a crucial role in positioning the company to win profitable business and drive growth in the Energy sector. As a Proposals Manager you will work closely with our Energy business to develop tailored solutions for clients in the regulated and private sectors, lead the capture and management of bids, produce high‑quality written content and ensure appropriate bid governance and review processes are followed. You will collaborate with technical and project leaders, liaise with clients and partners, and manage the development of compelling proposals.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Lead, drive and implement opportunities through a structured, robust work‑winning and governance process against agreed timescales.
  • Manage and facilitate the delivery of all or parts of Expressions of Interest, Pre‑Qualifications and Proposals including proposal kick‑off, winning and review meetings.
  • Manage interfaces with the proposals team, multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, other UK/global business streams, external clients and partner organisations.
  • Manage multiple bids concurrently, dependent on size and complexity.
  • Facilitate defining bid strategy, win themes and storyboards and developing value propositions.
  • Write and support impactful, tailored, technically differentiated bid content.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant subject or demonstrable relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Commitment to achieving APMP Foundation as a minimum.

Skills

  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills with an excellent command of the English language.
  • Robust project management skills with a meticulous approach to detail and quality, supported by commercial acumen.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • IT focus with accurate and proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Microsoft Project would be advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of AI as applied to a work‑winning environment.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in a similar role, ideally in engineering and construction.
  • Previous experience in a bidding role, with a demonstrable record of success.
  • Understanding of public and private sector procurement processes.
  • Experience in producing tenders in the markets that WSP operates in.
