We are seeking consultants to join the Rail Strategy and Feasibility team at WSP. The team provides strategic rail advice to client and internal stakeholders. The role involves coordinating multi-disciplinary projects, developing our rail-focused service offering in light rail, freight, and local authority sectors, and managing and delivering tasks that contribute to large projects, including bidding for new work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic rail advice to external and internal clients.
  • Take a central coordinating role in multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Develop rail-focused service offerings in light rail, freight, and local authorities.
  • Plan, manage and deliver tasks that contribute to large projects, and take responsibility for project delivery and bidding for new work.
  • Engage with clients and take a pro-active role in WSP UK and global communities, building internal and external networks to solve problems and generate new work.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in light rail, freight or transport for local authorities; understanding of legislative and funding processes related to rail operations and scheme development.
  • Comprehensive understanding across rail areas such as operational planning, strategic planning, business case development and engineering feasibility.
  • Strong strategic thinking with a capacity to see the big picture while managing detail.
  • Career-focused professional with a pro-active approach and collaborative style.
  • Wider consultancy skills, including business development and bidding.
  • Organisational skills, able to plan and manage tasks using a project management approach; strong stakeholder management and ability to manage project delivery teams.
  • Microsoft proficiency.
  • Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualifications.
