We are seeking a Road Safety professional to help with our current workloads in the south and south‑east regions. You will be based out of one of our offices in Southampton, Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Brighton, Cambridge, Guildford, Reading or London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs by managing traffic engineering and road safety schemes, analysing collision data, speed management, providing safety reviews of highway design proposals and undertaking Road Safety Audits.
  • Act as a Road Safety / Engineering designer and support the team on a wide range of projects while helping to grow and develop our work with clients.
  • Prepare and review reports, drawings, schedules and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance.
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of projects.
  • Undertake technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team.
  • Collaborate with the Liveable Places team, colleagues in transport and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives.

Your Team

The Liveable Places team works with a wide range of national and local authority and private clients across the UK to achieve their place‑making ambitions. We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, transport planning, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian/traffic modelling, active travel and parking. Recent key successes include projects with West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, West Berkshire Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, West of England Combined Authorities, Devon County Council, National Highways, Westminster City Council and more. The team is based in offices across the country and consists of over 200 staff, with further growth planned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the Safe System framework.
  • Experience managing colleagues and projects, including monitoring budgets and reporting their status.
  • Expert knowledge of road safety, ensuring highway design meets standards and guidance and provides safe solutions for all road users.
  • Significant experience in collision data analysis and deriving solutions to road safety issues.
  • Qualification as a Team Leader in accordance with DMRB document GG 119 and ability to undertake Road Safety Audits.
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise workloads and maintain service levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and a customer‑focused nature to build working relationships with stakeholders.
