A little more about your role… As a Principal Fire Engineer, you will typically be working on a variety of projects at once from a University in Scotland to a high‑rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building. You will be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.
The role is a learning journey: you will be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings, and client updates from the start, and we regularly get together for social events. In addition to day‑to‑day responsibilities, we will assist the successful candidate toward professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations.
At WSP, we have multiple opportunities for our fire engineers to grow via a bespoke programme designed to provide you with both professional skills and specialist technical development. The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored to give you the support, guidance, and development opportunities to help you work towards chartered status or equivalent professional qualifications. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate… You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent. Must have experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
