A little more about the role...
As a manufacturing process architect, you will be responsible for the provision of architectural services associated with process industry construction projects through all stages of the design process to include planning, concept design, detail design and implementation. Particular emphasis on the food, manufacturing and process related industries.
Working for and with the process architecture lead to take clients intended manufacturing process proposals at various levels of detail across a variety of industries and develop them into efficient effective solutions. To understand the principles of what makes a good manufacturing process, understand waste, inventory and efficiency, to suggest optimisations and to consider flexibility and future alterations. This role will also feed into the designers of the wider facilities. Advising MEP engineers, building architects and, Electrical and C&I engineers on the requirements of the process equipment and interfaces.
Core Functions
Delivery of process lead solutions for site master planning, feasibility studies, scheme and detail design and construction support stages
Develop manufacturing building and room layouts for optimum cGMP compliance, manufacturing efficiency and operability
Develop plant layouts for process/manufacturing facilities
Develop manufacturing process layouts to consider operation, inventory, maintenance and flexibility
Ability to identify waste and optimise process layouts.
Experience of Lean / Six Sigma a benefit
Experience of industrialisation and scale up of manufacturing a benefit
Preparation, checking and approval Architectural design work on allocated projects, including drawings and specifications for all project stages
Co-ordination of the design to ensure good interface with all other disciplines
Revit 3D model coordination and BIM implementation
Cost management in conjunction with Quantity Surveyors and suppliers
Provide value engineering and constructability input for other Architectural aspects
Estimating manhours and provide input to proposals
Presenting to clients
Promote technical excellence of the Architectural aspects of projects undertaken by WSP
Provide up to date technical advice to WSP and clients on Architectural aspects
Contribute to the development of systems and procedures
Contribute to the development of the department Architectural expertise

Civil, Structural, and Architectural Engineering Manager

What we would like you to demonstrate..
Experience and demonstrable proficiency in working in the process industries
Experience working for or with manufacturers on facility and or process line design / optimisation / development
Demonstrable experience in design and / or the management of the design of industrial / manufacturing facilities to design codes and standards, good knowledge of materials, construction techniques and sustainability
Specific industry awareness required in pharmaceutical, science and technology, chemical manufacturing and food sectors
Commercial awareness and experience of supporting cost estimating functions
AutoCAD and Revit experience. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and NBS software required.
Understanding of Designer and Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM Regulations
Good interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a multi-discipline team. Versatile, reliable and resourceful.

Qualifications:
BSc (Hons) or BA (Hons) Architecture or equivalent degree, BSc Architectural Technology, or
BEng / MEng Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
