Our Water & Environment Team is experiencing substantial growth and requires an experienced Principal Environmental Consultant with strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage projects throughout their lifecycle. The role involves serving multiple environmental frameworks and sizeable capital water and wastewater projects across the UK.

Key Accountabilities

  • You will work within a multidisciplinary team of experts in water resources, hydro‑ecology, hydrology, flood risk, geomorphology, water quality, ecosystem science and environmental impact assessment.
  • You will oversee specialist projects and substantial technical elements within wider multidisciplinary projects, from bidding to execution and close‑out, and ensure quality of service while balancing client needs and regulatory requirements.
  • You will also develop new business, maintain client and stakeholder relationships and, where appropriate, manage staff.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience in a water‑related environmental technical discipline such as hydrology, hydro‑ecology or freshwater catchment science.
  • Excellent understanding of the UK water industry and its regulation.
  • Proven ability to lead specialist project delivery and sizeable technical work.
  • Strong technical management and direction skills to ensure a high level of service.
  • Experience developing proposals and winning work.
  • Experience in people management and/or technical staff development (beneficial).
  • Environment‑related degree (post‑graduate qualification desirable).
  • Regular travel to offices and sites, including remote locations, is required.
