The WSP Pavement Engineering team is seeking an Associate Pavement Engineer to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting large-scale projects.
Due to recent successes the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.
The successful candidate will form part of an existing team to deliver pavement design and maintenance projects for a number of clients both in the UK and overseas.
The successful candidate will be involved in the technical delivery and project management of pavement schemes from inception through to handover of the completed scheme to the client.
This role will primarily be client facing and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of schemes in either the local or national transport arena.
The candidate will assist the engineering team to develop and deliver projects through various stages of design from feasibility / option studies to detailed design and onto construction.
- What will you be doing?…
- Deliver pavement projects, including investigation reports, design projects and site supervision.
- Have a proven technical knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of pavement related projects.
This should include new build, maintenance and assessment of all forms of infrastructure (the pavement group operates across, Aviation, Highways, Ports/Harbours).
- Ensuring that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company's management systems including Health and Safety, project and risk management.
- Lead a team of Engineers, provide technical support, advice and training.
- Supporting managers with provision of information on the technical performance of staff for performance appraisal purposes.
- Supporting in developing and enhancing client relationships.
- Manage fieldwork projects including commercial and health and safety requirements.
- Perform road and airfield pavement inspections and report treatment recommendations.
- Lead pavement analysis, design, specification and reporting.
- Develop lifecycle plans to contribute to successful asset management, operations and maintenance to road operators.
- Provide commercial guidance when developing proposals and in the delivery of projects.
- Implement the technical quality requirements, address the project brief and meet client deadlines
- What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Knowledge of pavement engineering demonstrated by experience of pavement design, investigation and research.
- Knowledge and/or experience of road and airfield pavement engineering projects.
- Knowledge and/or experience of pavement design methodologies and contract documentation, including MCHW/DMRB.
- Ability to understand the scope and limits of responsibility between various engineering disciplines and project support groups.
- Experience of pavement investigation projects for maintenance design and failure investigation
- Knowledge of materials behaviour underlying standard specifications.
- Knowledge of roads operation, maintenance and renewal practices.
- Working knowledge of the preparation of proposals and communication with clients.
Technical background: Experience working within Pavement Engineering discipline or hold MEng / BEng in Civil Engineering.
