The Roads team in the London & South East Region is undergoing an exciting period of scale and growth.

We have a strong pipeline of work, a new operating structure and healthy backlog.

We are looking for experienced individuals to join our team with a variety of experience to help win more work, recruit talented individuals, develop local teams and deliver a portfolio of complex projects.

  • A little more about your role…
  • Leadership – be a visible role model, working with teams, engaging with staff, supporting development, health, safety and wellbeing performance, promoting inclusion and diversity and developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Management - Your role will cover line management, team leadership, mentoring and recruitment.

You will take responsibility for the utilisation of your team, working closely with the Regional Director to ensure a strong performance.

  • Collaboration – promoting a One WSP ethos to facilitate the delivery of services, working with teams to identify solutions to overcome challenges and the appropriate resources to enhance service delivery.
  • Client management – engaging with and building strong relationships with our clients and external stakeholders.
  • Delivery – act as Project Director, taking accountability for the performance of projects in a commercial environment. Meet and exceed financial targets for projects.
  • Growth – lead capture and bidding programmes for large and complex infrastructure opportunities. Develop a strong pipeline of new work.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects across the London & South East and offshore teams, supporting a growing UK&I portfolio.
  • Build strong relationships and provide technical leadership across all locations.
  • Help shape the London & South East region through technical quality, excellence, and team development.
  • Promote a collaborative culture where people share ideas, challenge safely, and improve together by driving the direction of the region with a focus on technical quality and excellence.
  • Support a diverse portfolio that builds skills, mobility, and long-term resilience.
  • Working directly with our clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing their expectations and comprehensively advising them.
  • Work collaboratively across Roads, Transport, and Infrastructure to achieve shared goals.
  • Responsible for compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes.
  • Support resource planning by building teams and matching people to roles.
  • Take on client/ account/ framework leadership roles.

  • Broad highways experience across civil engineering and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Ability to motivate others, lead change, and foster an innovative, supportive culture.
  • Commercial and strategic capability, with a track record of winning and delivering new business.
  • Proactively manage change, clearly communicating impacts on programme, cost, and quality.
  • Be influential and persuasive, while encouraging open dialogue and feedback.
  • Proven ability to lead one or more design disciplines across relevant transport and development projects.
  • Excellent client, stakeholder, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience complying with Designers’ Duties under CDM regulations.
