We are looking for graduates for our Rail team, who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. A little bit more about your role and the team… We are currently looking for a Graduate Consultant to join our Rail team. This role will provide the perfect first step into a consultancy career in an exciting and rapidly changing sector. From day one you'll be part of a team supporting more senior consultants in delivering projects to clients. The successful applicant will have excellent numeracy and analytical skills gained from an engineering background, strong writing skills, a proactive, organised approach and a commitment to producing high quality work with a high level of attention to detail.
As a Graduate Consultant, you will manage your time across several projects, contributing at all phases, from supporting the preparation of proposals to win new contracts, through delivering the project and liaising with clients. You will be responsible for the quality and delivery of your work, and liaise with other consultants to incorporate your contribution into wider project outputs.
We will also devote time to help you acquire valuable client management techniques and important ‘soft’ skills, delivering presentations, project management, people management etc. to build up your commercial strengths.
Graduate Development Programme: Our two-year Graduate Development programme is designed to support personal and professional development and growth through an engaging blended learning experience. The programmes include core business and professional skills training, career development workshops and resources, valuable networking opportunities, mentoring for professional registration and a breadth of on-the-job experience.
Our teams are dedicated to supporting your career growth from the very beginning. Many employees have started as graduates and successfully advanced within the company. We encourage you to achieve chartered status with relevant professional bodies such as the IET and IMechE ensuring your development is a priority. You will be fully supported through enrolment in a professional institution’s training agreement, guiding you towards chartered or incorporated status.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:
- You’ll have graduated with at least a 2:1 in a master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Rail Systems or Systems Engineering.
- An interest in the rail sector.
- The desire to work on a variety of projects in multidisciplinary teams.
- The ambition and confidence to become a technical consultant and a future leader.
- The conviction that you can make a real difference to peoples’ lives and their environment through your expertise.
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with client-focus and a hands-on approach.

- Ability to work in a consultancy environment.
