A Little More About Your Role

As a member of the global network of lighting specialists, you will work closely with multi‑disciplinary design teams, stakeholders, manufacturers, contractors and clients. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Lighting and Energy Solutions team and wider design delivery teams.
  • Producing external lighting design layouts, engineering detail drawings, and support documentation in accordance with WSP’s Quality Assurance and client requirements.
  • Preparing lighting classification selection assessments and Lighting Reality calculations.
  • Supporting the development of technical notes, optioneering reports and specifications.
  • Completing non‑intrusive site visits to develop lighting assessments and site clearance drawings.
  • Assisting with the development of project proposals.
  • Contributing to project meetings and reviews, providing input related to your responsibilities.
  • Representing WSP within the lighting industry, fostering relationships and supporting business development.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Experience in the Local Government and/or Strategic Road Network sectors, with the ability to prioritise and remain flexible.
  • Competence in external lighting design from conception through to issue for construction.
  • Strong knowledge of external lighting products, design standards, guidance, legislation, and regulations.
  • General awareness of electrical design principles, central management systems, and lighting maintenance operations.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate client briefs, offering guidance and tailored support.
  • Registration with the Engineering Council and active membership of a professional institution (or a strong intention to obtain these).
  • Proficiency in working independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and organisational skills, and the capability to support junior team members.
  • AutoCAD proficiency and good overall IT skills.
