WSP’s Liveable Places team works with a wide range of local authority and private clients across the UK to help them achieve their place‑making ambitions. These roles can be based from a number of different locations, including Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Guildford, Leeds, London, Reading and Southampton offices, with flexible working allowing for a mix of home and in‑office work.

About Your Role

As an Associate Engineer you will take the lead on delivering a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery – including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian / traffic modelling. As a Senior or Principal Engineer you will be involved in design management and project management, and will take the lead on design delivery and implementation of sustainable transport and public realm improvement projects from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Design Management: Oversee the design process, ensuring that all design work is completed to the highest standards and meets the client's requirements.
  • Project Management: Manage the overall project, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met and keeping them informed throughout the project.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, ensuring any issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all design work meets the highest standards of quality and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Mentoring: Support and mentor team members, including early‑career professionals.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Degree or equivalent qualifications within Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in design management and project management.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering multi‑disciplinary schemes across the project lifecycle with proven ability to act as Project Manager.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to report to senior level.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading design projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
