Do you enjoy the thrill of leading, directing and coordinating multi‑disciplinary technical teams to solve complex technical problems and drive innovation whilst keeping client requirements in mind? If so, then the WSP Rail Stations team are actively seeking enthusiastic Engineering Managers to lead technical delivery of our diverse portfolio of Stations projects.
As an Engineering Manager you will:
- Responsibility for leading, directing and coordinating the technical aspects of multi‑disciplinary station design projects.
- Manage client and stakeholder relationships to achieve desired project outcomes.
- Have a strong understanding of CDM and health and safety regulations setting an example for Health Safety and Welfare on your projects and instilling a strong safety culture within the delivery team.
- Represent WSP and lead design coordination activities such as IDR/IDC.
- Undertake the CEM role in accordance with NR/L2/INI/02009.
- Support the Project and Design Managers in the technical delivery of Rail projects.
- Provide guidance, support and mentorship to aspiring engineering managers.
YOUR TEAM
Undertake project work from across the full design lifecycle, from early concept stage to detailed design and subsequently supporting implementation contractors on site. Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, TfW, TfGM, TfWM, Nexus and local authorities. Provide clients with technical excellence and the ability to delight.
Reporting to the Regional Service Lead, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and challenging multi‑disciplinary rail stations projects around.
What we would be looking for you to demonstrate...
- Demonstrable multidisciplinary delivery experience; proven leaders that have a track record of developing and maintaining Client relationships.
- Chartered Engineer, or similar professional status.
- Experience in client facing environment.
- Ability to apply innovation and advanced engineering techniques to progress contract solutions.
- Experience undertaking the CEM and/or CRE roles.
- Experience of multi‑disciplinary projects within the context of a design organisation in the rail industry.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team of technical resources and specialisms.
- Technical knowledge to be able to challenge project teams on outputs/deliverables and where necessary, clients to ensure focus is maintained on defined scope or where scope needs to be modified, renegotiate and agree.
- Understanding of Client Engineering assurance process such as GRIP, PACE, Pathways etc.
- Awareness of Network Rail standard construction details.
- Experience of Network Rail standards.
- Awareness of HS2, TfL and/or Crossrail standards desirable.
