At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.
A little bit more about your role:
Shape the quality and performance of critical energy infrastructure - globally.
We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join WSP’s Asset & Quality Solutions (AQS) team, playing a key role in assuring the quality, performance, and integrity of major electrical equipment across global projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in transformers, generators, or high-voltage equipment who’s looking to step into (or further develop in) a technical leadership position - with real international exposure.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll act as a technical lead across a range of projects, supporting the manufacture, testing, and delivery of critical electrical equipment.
No two days are the same, but you’ll be involved in:
- Providing technical oversight on transformers, generators, and associated HV equipment
- Supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT) and inspection activities
- Working closely with suppliers to ensure quality, compliance, and performance standards are met
- Reviewing key technical documentation (e.g. ITPs, test procedures, manufacturing plans)
- Supporting projects with technical input and problem-solving during delivery
- Contributing to audits, investigations, and continuous improvement activities
- Mentoring and supporting more junior inspection and engineering staff
You’ll be working across international projects in sectors including Energy, Industrial and Transport - giving you real variety and exposure.
What we’re looking for you to demonstrate:
We’re more interested in your experience and potential than ticking every box - if you’ve worked with high-voltage equipment and have a solid engineering foundation, we’d like to hear from you.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Experience with transformers, generators, or other HV electrical equipment
- Exposure to manufacturing, testing, or inspection environments
- An understanding of industry standards (IEC, IEEE etc.)
- Experience of FAT, commissioning, or supplier interaction
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with clients and suppliers
- A willingness to travel (project-dependent)
- Experience with audits, ISO standards or root cause analysis is helpful — but not essential.
Why join WSP?
- Work on major, high-profile projects across the energy sector
- Be part of a globally connected technical team
- Develop your expertise across a broad range of equipment and clients
- Gain international exposure and career progression opportunities
- Help shape the future of critical infrastructure
