A little more about your role… Our Civil business is seeking a Commercial Manager to support commercial activity across the discipline. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll provide commercial leadership across complex infrastructure programmes for clients including national and regional transport bodies, as well as leading contractors. Your role will be to embed a strong project culture around commercial excellence, balanced with the need to satisfy client, staff and commercial expectations along with business operational performance. You’ll be highly collaborative, a natural problem solver and well used to tackling the myriad challenges that complex infrastructure projects can present.
You’ll join a close-knit commercial team within Civil, while also connecting into a wider, collaborative team across the Transport and Infrastructure portfolio where knowledge sharing and best practice are actively encouraged. Key Responsibilities- You will work in partnership with Legal, Insurance, Tax, Bid Modelling, Finance, Operations and project teams to provide commercial advice and support across a diverse portfolio of Civil infrastructure projects.
- Supporting sustainable work winning, including input to bids, pricing and commercial strategy.
- Reviewing, managing and negotiating contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Providing commercial support during project delivery, ensuring effective contract management and performance.
- Providing risk and commercial advice during bids and delivery to support decision-making and performance.
- Ensuring appropriate governance is in place across opportunities and live projects.
- Proactively managing change, risk and opportunity to protect and enhance project outcomes.
- Ensuring activities align with internal policies and external client requirements.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and wider commercial team initiatives.
- Experience in a similar commercial role within infrastructure project environments.
- A solid working knowledge of NEC forms of contract (NEC3/4) and contract administration across the project lifecycle.
- Good commercial awareness, with the ability to support effective commercial decision-making.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams in complex project environments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
- A degree (or equivalent commercial experience) in a relevant discipline; membership of a professional body is welcomed but not essential.
