Due to our continued expansion into the Nuclear sector, WSP is currently recruiting for a Lead Consultant - Systems Engineering & Integration with a background in the Nuclear Industry. The successful candidate will be placed within our Systems Engineering, Integration and Assurance team within Transport and Infrastructure (Rail), but will work in close collaboration with our Nuclear Business.

A little more about your role…

  • Leading project teams to solve complex integration problems for our clients on major infrastructure programmes, both in the Nuclear industry and Rail Industries.
  • Leading tasks within a project environment, leading other resources on larger projects, and having sole accountability for small projects.
  • A recognised expert in systems integration, demonstrating a willingness and openness to provide expert advice to our clients and your colleagues, with a commitment to mentoring Early Career Professionals.
  • Working in challenging and exciting project environments, where you will need to help define those projects, adding value and reducing risk for our clients by applying pragmatic systems thinking and collaborative behaviours as part of a team on big systems engineering projects.
  • Supporting internal team development activities focused on business and/or technical development, particularly within the Nuclear Sector.
  • Gaining commercial responsibility for your project and awareness of the wider business while working in a consultancy environment.
  • Proactively seeking knowledge and learning opportunities from within our team or via external sources to develop the capability to determine the right approach to a problem, considering the competing needs and constraints on capabilities, availabilities of resources, time and cost constraints.

What we are looking for you to demonstrate…

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
  • Significant post-degree experience in delivering systems integration in the Nuclear Industry.
  • Experience in the creation and coordination of Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance artefacts such as architectures (functional and system), requirements, verification and validation documents, compliance statements, integrated schedules, design risk assessments (safety and CDM) and FMEA, HAZOP, ALARP assessments.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering across various stages of a project lifecycle.
  • Experience in applying various systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS) and techniques (e.g. Model-Based Systems Engineering, MBSE) to facilitate the implementation of a model-supported Systems Engineering Approach.
  • Experience in identifying and defining the appropriate approach to systems engineering on projects.
  • Experience in identifying and defining the appropriate application of systems engineering tools on projects.
  • Experience in leading others in delivering systems engineering projects and/or tasks within the Nuclear Sector.
  • A background in client-facing roles, and/or experience in stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience across different lifecycle stages and/or a clear understanding of the Systems Engineering challenges across different stages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Innovative Ideas for the development of systems engineering services.
  • Can achieve a national security clearance equivalent to a BPSS standard, or higher, within a reasonable period.
