We provide clients with all land-related statutory documentation needed to comply with planning processes as they develop, plan, secure and exercise powers to construct, operate and maintain their infrastructure assets. Using land referencing data, we ensure projects comply with legislation and fulfil data security obligations, engage meaningfully with landowners and other stakeholders, and maximize benefits of the landed data throughout the project lifecycle, ultimately registering the new rights in the client\’s name.Junior Land ConsultantAs Junior Land Consultant, you will be directly supporting the wider team in the identification of landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold a legal interest in land, through research and interpretation of a variety of informationYou will also support our teams in the delivery of land access, landowner engagement, stakeholder engagement, and supporting projects through to the consenting stages/statutory processesWork closely with our 300+ Land colleagues across the UK, Ireland and India delivering land services on a variety of high-profile projects across the energy, highways, rail, water, local government and aviation sectorsSupport the wider team in the identification of legal interests in land, through desktop research which includes but is not limited to, land registry title interpretation, companies\’ details checks and address validationsContribute to the Land delivery and success of high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK and IrelandInterpret and processing of incoming documents, such as questionnaires and access licences from landowners to support the delivery of land accessAttend and contribute to internal project meetingsPotential for UK and Ireland travelWe actively support people in achieving professional accreditations and have Chartered Geographers (CGeog), Chartered Town Planners (RTPI) and Chartered Surveyors (AssocRICS and MRICS) who can support your career progressionThis role will report to a Consultant/Senior Land ConsultantParticipation in our CPD-accredited Land Academy. Full training will be provided combined with learning on-the-job as part of our projectsWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrateRecently graduated with a degree in Geography, Land/Estate Management, Agriculture or another relevant discipline and/or experience that has provided you with an understanding of land use and ownershipExperience of desktop researching and problem-solving, so that you can apply your skills to the process of identifying landowners/occupiers, land interests and rights in landThe role will require visits to sites as part of a team, to speak with landowners and stakeholders. This may involve periods staying away from home (accommodation and expenses are provided)Good communication and organisational skills, with experience in managing dataProficient at reading and using maps and in interrogating datasetsExcellent written/verbal communication skills, and comfortable in being able to write and articulate your findingsExperience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)The ability to travel effectively to various sites/locations is a necessary function of this role.ScotlandOur Scotland team consists of land consultants, property specialists, and utility/topographical surveyors working across our Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth offices. We work closely with over 300+ Land colleagues across the UK, Ireland and India delivering land services on a variety of projects across the energy, water, road, rail and active-travel sectors. Our clients develop major highway, rail, energy and renewable infrastructure projects all of which impact privately owned land. We are the largest land referencing business in the UK and Ireland, with recent high-profile projects including the A9 Dualling; SSEN; and various onshore renewable schemes.As part of our Land team, you will combine office, home and on-site working to deliver components for the delivery of land consenting projects ensuring the validity, accuracy and auditability of information collected. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, working with a team of Land Consultants to deliver the necessary information required to identify, notify, engage, and gain access to lands and secure required consents with landowners affected by infrastructure projects.We work locally, making a difference to projects across the whole of Scotland as well as nationally with other WSP teams, using our in-house land information and consultation databases alongside GIS systems, with a focus on innovation and quality. Our colleagues are from a diverse range of careers backgrounds including estate management, forestry, agriculture, project management, liaison officers, site supervision, land agency and more.
