WSP’s Vetting & Personnel Security function sits within the Security Management team and delivers a vetting service to both internal and external clients. This ensures personnel security risks are identified and managed appropriately with the aim of protecting our client’s most sensitive assets.

As a WSP Security Vetting Officer, you will play a key role in providing an excellent vetting service to our clients while supporting WSP’s wider business in all elements of Personnel Security. The role will assure the efficient operation of personnel screening and vetting processes, prioritising tasks where required to ensure seamless delivery of an effective Personnel Security capability.

A Little More About Your Role

  • Ensure all vetting and screening requirements are satisfied and compliant with both internal policy and external contractual and regulatory obligations (e.g. HM Government BPSS, Defence Security, National Security Vetting (NSV), Aviation Security and Nuclear sector).
  • Coordinating the governance and delivery of Aviation security vetting processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and effective stakeholder coordination across various Aviation projects.
  • Provide timely advice and support to WSP’s project teams in all areas of Personnel Security, escalating to the Security Vetting Supervisor/Personnel Security Manager in areas of doubt.
  • Assist WSP’s Personnel Security Manager with the implementation of an insider threat governance and risk management framework and support the investigation of insider threat incidents.
  • Support all aspects of National Security Vetting procedures including aftercare processes.
  • Assist with reporting and audits for internal and external purposes.
  • Liaise and collaborate with HR and Project teams to fulfil vetting requirements and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Support WSP’s security awareness programme by encouraging security-conscious behaviours and continually improving WSP’s overall security culture.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Hold SC clearance or the ability to achieve it. (Essential)
  • Previous security vetting experience (Desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver to tight timescales.
  • Possess attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, HR and vetting systems desirable.
  • Possess a professional and confident manner to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  • A highly motivated and driven individual that adopts a flexible and adaptable approach.
  • A proactive individual with the ability to take initiative and a keen interest in personal and professional development.
  • Ability to develop and manage processes to create continuous improvement and efficiencies.
