WSP’s Surveying Services team is growing, and we’re recruiting professionals who want to shape the future of Land and Engineering Surveying across the UK & Ireland.
We have teams based in the following locations - with WSP's hybrid working allowing for a mix of site, in-office and home working:
Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Guildford, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Naas.
YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Based in WSP’s Edinburgh or Glasgow offices, operating within the UK-wide Surveying Services team, leading and managing Surveying Services across Scotland while providing operational oversight and strategic direction and working closely with the Buried Services Surveying, UAV, and Measured Building Survey teams.

Oversee the successful delivery of live surveying projects throughout Scotland, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to client requirements.

Manage resource allocation across multiple projects while providing technical leadership and supporting the delivery of complex, large-scale infrastructure schemes.

Business Development, including bid management, proposal writing, client engagement, and marketing initiatives to secure new opportunities.

Develop and expand the Scotland Surveying Services team to support a growing workload, project portfolio, and client base.

Oversee land and engineering surveys in accordance with project briefs, client specifications, and industry best practice.

Manage the processing, quality assurance, and review of survey data and project deliverables, ensuring compliance with WSP standards and quality procedures.

Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members, supporting their technical progression and professional development.

Working within a team of 48 Surveyors based UK wide, consisting of Topographical, Measured Building & Buried Services Surveyors and UAV Pilots.

Working mainly on surveying projects UK wide

Varied client base from Local Authorities to Multi-Discipline Consultants

Reporting to the survey team lead

City based offices, with excellent transport links and surrounding area includes shops/café/parking train station

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE
-
Relevant technical qualification in Surveying or a related discipline (Degree or HND), with significant experience in a similar role, typically 8-12 years.
-
Membership of a recognised professional body (such as RICS or CICES) would be advantageous.
-
Strong understanding of project management principles, commercial considerations, health, safety & wellbeing, and project delivery requirements.
-
Proficient in the operation of surveying equipment, including Total Stations, GNSS systems, and terrestrial laser scanners.
-
Experienced in the use of industry-standard software, including N4ce, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), Leica Cyclone, and AutoCAD.
-
Experience in planning, managing, and piloting UAV surveys; holding a General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) would be advantageous.

Experience in delivering Buried Services Surveys would be beneficial, although not essential.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent organisational and self-management skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor junior surveyors and technical staff.

The ability to travel UK‑wide on a regular basis is essential for this role.
