Join us as a Corporate Nature Strategy Lead in our dedicated Nature Advisory team within the Nature Services discipline. Advisory is a core service offer at the forefront of our UK growth strategy and our Nature Advisory team is expanding due to increasing client demand to address nature and its value in decision-making.
We are looking for someone who is well established as a leader in developing nature strategies for businesses and who has experience providing strategic advice to private sector clients. Through your existing networks you will take ownership of the growth of WSP UK’s work with clients on corporate nature strategies, action plans and related reporting commitments. You will work with our team to deliver high quality project work drawing on the technical excellence of our SMEs.
This is a hybrid position with the ability to join a WSP office close to you. The role provides an exciting opportunity to lead our strategic nature work with corporates, developing new client relationships and capitalising on existing ones to bring nature to the forefront of wider delivery, embedding it across our portfolio of work. Although delivery is targeted at UK clients, the role may involve liaison with other WSP regions where we have global clients and the opportunity to bring our global expertise together across projects.
Typical project examples include:
- Developing nature positive plans;
- Benchmarking clients on nature maturity;
- Pre-screening nature-related impacts using our digital in-house tools;
- Developing metrics and targets;
- Writing TNFD reports.
You will be supported by technical experts from across WSP and have an opportunity to carve your own niche and develop ideas for innovative work that delivers better outcomes for the environment, economy and society.
A typical week would include:
- Working with the Strategic Lead for Nature Advisory on a growth strategy for WSP’s work with corporates on nature strategies and reporting;
- Generating opportunities, preparation of tenders and raising the profile of WSP’s work in this area;
- Providing technical leadership on all aspects relating to nature strategies and reporting;
- Over-seeing the delivery and project management of a range of deliverables (technical, commercial and financial) in support of our clients’ projects;
- Working with colleagues across the business to integrate our nature advisory services within the wider business;
- People management within the Nature Advisory team.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- A good relevant degree in environmental science; sustainability; ecology; business; economics or related field;
- Proven experience in developing and implementing nature-based strategies in a corporate setting including application of frameworks and standards (e.g. SBTN, TNFD);
- Established network of contacts within corporate and financial institutions;
- Strong understanding of applying natural capital approaches, and nature-related reporting requirements;
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders;
- Excellent client relationship skills;
- Demonstrable experience winning work, writing bids and managing projects;
- The ability to translate complex data and information into digestible formats for clients and senior leaders.
