WSP is looking for a Capture Lead to play a central role in securing some of our most important UK opportunities, collaborating with our technical experts to deliver winning solutions for our clients. The Capture Lead is responsible for driving a team to deliver an optimised value proposition and solution that delights our clients, ultimately developing a winning offer with our technical and bid professionals through a structured process. They work closely with an Opportunity Director to develop client relationships, shape capture strategy, develop a delivery solution and create differentiating value propositions that optimise chances of bid success. They are responsible for translating this capture strategy into bid deliverables and support the bid team during this phase.

Our Strategic Bid Team is one of the largest and most respected in the UK, contributing directly to WSP’s reputation as an award winning global professional services firm. Our team are APMP qualified as a minimum and we are looking for people who will collaborate with fellow Capture Leads and Growth Directors to continuously improve a best-in-industry team. You will bring challenge, creativity and exemplary experience to this evolving capability, and as a key member of our Capture team, champion capture excellence across WSP.

This is a senior level role within our work winning function, suited to an ambitious individual who brings energy, determination and discipline, with a proven track record of leading teams in a matrix environment.

A little more about your role…

  • Lead capture planning within a centralised strategic bidding team to build high performing teams that deliver winning multidisciplinary, high value strategic bids across multiple sectors.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with prospect directors, business and sector leadership, bid colleagues and commercial teams to deliver a differentiating offer, value proposition and compelling solution to our clients.
  • Train and coach bid colleagues and technical leaders on the capture process and associated skills to maintain our culture of capture.
  • Champion lessons learnt from the capture phase. Analyse each opportunity, including customer feedback, to identify and share best practice with operational, bid and business development staff across WSP and suggest improvements to process and team dynamics.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the Strategic Bid Team and its services, including our AI integration journey and knowledge management.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Creative, forward-thinking and entrepreneurial, you can develop bespoke strategies, materials and plans to respond to specific opportunity requirements.
  • A strong will to win, underpinned by genuine passion for winning work and the flexibility to adapt to emerging requirements and changing client or business priorities.
  • Understanding and application of capture planning best practice, preferably with APMP qualifications, and an appreciation for the full bid lifecycle. Relevant experience in a similar professional services environment preferred.
  • Good experience of client engagement and solution development in the sectors in which WSP operates. An appreciation of procurement methodologies and the constraints and opportunities this offers WSP is advantageous.
  • Evidenced capability of leading discussions with senior management and other business stakeholders on opportunity viability, reviews or governance calls.
  • Ability to assimilate, understand, and simplify large volumes of information, and plan and manage associated workflows.
  • Excellent people and communication skills to lead, encourage, motivate and enthuse others. Capable of leading or facilitating workshops/meetings to optimise session outcomes.
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject.
