We are looking for Principal / Associate Structural Engineers for our Cambridge office, to join an established team working with a diverse client group.
A little more about your role… You will on a day to day be working with our Civil & Structural Engineering teams in Cambridge and across the UK to help WSP work on some of the most challenging and high profile education, healthcare and technology sector projects within the industry and through collaboration with our unique specialist services teams helping to bring added value to the projects we deliver for our clients.
Full support and supervision will be provided to the role to ensure you develop to your full potential and gain Chartered status. This role is to work as part of our growing building structures team, taking a lead role in project work, design document production & delivery, client and stakeholder liaison.
- Work with the client, project team and key stakeholders to assemble a design & specification compliant with requirements, agree its format and content, and monitor and review its preparation ensuring delivery by the due date.
- Liaise closely with architects and other co-professionals at project inception to establish project briefs.
- Assist in the project lifecycle documentation – QA, CDM, Archiving etc and coach more junior colleagues in their use.
- Help support your team members and take part in design reviews and staff development reviews.
The candidate must have excellent inter-personal skills, with good project leadership potential capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team and stakeholders.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Achieved, or are approaching, Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE / AIStructE / MICE), or have relevant equivalent experience.
- A sound knowledge of structural engineering principles, the appropriate use of analytical techniques and design software, and the application of Eurocodes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in the production of clear and concise engineering deliverables.
- An interest in low carbon design and the assessment of embodied carbon to inform engineering decision making.
- Experience in the quality assurance of project deliverables including checking of calculations and drawings to generate high quality outputs.
