WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer with extensive postgraduate experience in the drainage design for Roads, Active Travel and Major Civil Engineering schemes. The role is within our high performing team based in London & South East region (located in either of our: Cambridge, London (Westferry Circus), Basingstoke, Guildford or Southampton offices). Your role will be key to the successful delivery of a wide range of projects, using your technical skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.
A little more about your role…
- Work as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients and coordinate engineering and technician resources to deliver work packages.
- Provide technical input to our cross sector multidisciplinary internal project teams supporting the delivery of transportation, commercial/residential development and environmental infrastructure projects.
- Prepare technical reports and effectively communicate outputs to our clients.
- Further develop and broaden the technical capacity of the Roads and drainage team.
- Technical input and design on roads, public transport and active travel projects, including:
- Undertaking road drainage systems and flood risk management measures designs using the relevant industry standard software for feasibility, concept and detailed design stages of a project.
- Application of the DMRB, CIRIA and other relevant standards.
- Developing and delivering design solutions including applications for Departures and Relaxations from Standards and ensuring all requisite approvals and consents are secured for projects.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
- A degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
- Hold CEng or IEng status with a professional institute or be close to achieving a qualification.
- The successful candidate will be capable of working to tight project deadlines, work comfortably under pressure and have an open and honest approach.
- Significant post graduate experience in undertaking outline and detailed design & delivery of the surface water drainage systems and flood risk management measures for the major national road development projects and other major civil engineering infrastructures.
- Have excellent working knowledge and understanding of drainage principles, DMRB standards and guidelines, SuDs and hydraulic modelling.
- Have significant experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and ArcGIS software.
- Have significant experience with the drainage design and flood modelling software like, Microdrainge & Causeway Flow.
- Experience in other related software such as InfoWorks ICM, FloodModeller, TuFlow, HEC-RAS (1d/2d) and HEC-HMS would be beneficial.
