A little more about your role…

We are seeking a Technical Director to support our major programme multidiscipline capability, playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering complex, high-value schemes across the UK.

This is a strategic leadership role within a fully integrated, multi discipline consultancy, offering the opportunity to lead major projects that bring together architecture, engineering and specialist disciplines at scale.

The position goes beyond a traditional architectural leadership role, providing end to end influence across programme definition, technical delivery and client engagement across a diverse multi-sector portfolio.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

Sector Leadership and Growth

  • Act as a senior leader with the agility and experience to work across multiple sectors, supporting the growth of our offer
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients and stakeholders within complex organisations and supply chains
  • Contribute to sector strategy, positioning WSP as a leading delivery partner for major national programmes. Driving Major Project and Programme Leadership
  • Lead delivery on large scale, multi discipline projects, working across integrated teams.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership on projects involving complex operational, security and regulatory requirements
  • Act as a programme level advisor ensuring alignment between architectural design and wider engineering and infrastructure solutions
  • Work closely with engineering, infrastructure and specialist teams to deliver coordinated, high performing solutions
  • Champion a whole system approach, ensuring the design is fully integrated with wider project objectives
  • Support the development of collaborative delivery models across disciplines
  • Technical Excellence
  • Provide senior technical oversight, ensuring design quality, compliance and innovation
  • Set standards for delivery across the team, particularly in high risk and secure environments
  • Lead design reviews and technical governance processes
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Play a key role in mentoring and developing the team
  • Support the growth of the WSP cross sector capability, including recruitment and skills development
  • Act as a visible leader within the UK wide team

About You

  • Proven experience leading multi discipline and architectural delivery within complex public programmes and sectors
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and technical levels, influencing clients and internal teams
  • Experience working within or alongside large integrated consultancies or complex project environments
  • Have an ability to communicate technical detail graphically and effectively alongside stakeholder management
