Role Overview

Our Water Asset Design team works primarily in the municipal water sector and non‑regulated (industrial/international) sector. We deliver wastewater treatment, water treatment, sewerage, and water network schemes, supporting a range of projects from routine maintenance to large‑scale developments. The team is distributed across the UK with support from an outsourced team in India. We are recruiting a Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams from option‑engineering through delivery and handover to the client.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project proposals, determining requirements, scope, resources, programme, and cost estimates.
  • Own the P&L, including commercial and financial accountability: revenue delivery, margin, overhead management, budget and forecast attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing, and cash collection.
  • Develop project‑management documentation: plans, cost estimates, forecasts, risk registers, schedules, stakeholder registers, organisation charts, etc., to deliver project objectives.
  • Monitor and control project schedule, man‑hours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure.
  • Ensure effective contract management, including administration and change management.
  • Manage work performed by project team members, ensuring outputs meet requirements.
  • Control project deliverables, information, and records.
  • Communicate relevant project information to the team and customer accurately.
  • Anticipate and take pre‑emptive action to address issues and potential conflicts that may impact delivery.
  • Lead multi‑disciplinary project teams consisting of technical/professional staff and suppliers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and capture lessons learned.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects; exposure to regulated water or non‑regulated water projects is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge or accreditation in NEC contracts with the necessary technical and practical skills.
  • Membership of a professional institution such as APM, PMI, or MICE (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in project‑management tools and software.
  • Demonstrated competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling, and commercial management.
