A little more about your role… You'll be working alongside a host of talented people ranging from our early career professionals to established engineers and project managers working across the Roads business to improve the local and strategic networks, based in our London & South East region (located in either of our: Cambridge, London (Westferry Circus), Basingstoke, Guildford or Southampton offices). Working in partnership with National Highways on our exciting and fast paced SDF contract, you will be part of a team delivering Highways based projects. The role will offer an interesting and varied workload – You will:
- Prepare designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB).
- Develop designs using AutoCAD, Civil3D, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Key Signs, Key Lines.
- Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing schemes and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Provide support to Project Managers within the design team in planning, programming, technical input to the pricing of project briefs, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation.
- Be accountable for self-checking and certifying designs, documents, approvals, and reports.
- Develop, support and mentor graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages coordinating engineering resources.
- Mentor and upskill more junior staff helping them develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications.
- Work collaboratively with clients and key stakeholders as necessary to deliver the schemes/projects.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role.
- Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute. Professional qualifications are advantageous.
- Highways design experience in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Key Signs, Key Lines.
- Knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislations, standards and procedures.
- NEC experience is advantageous.
- A passion for design and developing innovative solutions.
- To demonstrate initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
