The Associate – Project Management leads the delivery of Project Management support services to UK-based project teams across a range of sectors and project stages. The role supports successful project delivery from India by closely interfacing with UK Project Managers and Project Directors to meet contractual, programme, governance, and reporting requirements. The role carries responsibility for leading and growing the Project Management discipline as part of an integrated UK–India delivery model, contributing across the full project lifecycle—from early‑stage planning through design, construction, and closeout. It provides strong exposure to UK projects and offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical capability, professional engagement with clients, and long‑term career progression within WSP’s global Project Management community.
Responsibilities
- Project Delivery Leadership: Lead the delivery of contracted Project Management services for WSP across medium to high‑complexity engineering consultancy and infrastructure projects. Provide Project leadership to UK-based Projects across RIBA Stages 0 to 7, ensuring delivery in line with agreed scope, programme, and quality standards. Own and drive project planning, tracking, and monitoring activities to achieve successful outcomes across safety, cost, time, and quality.
- Programme, Reporting & Controls: Lead the development, maintenance, and continual update of project programmes, risk registers, action trackers, and issue logs. Monitor and report on key project performance metrics using WSP systems and agreed governance and reporting frameworks. Drive the preparation and coordination of monthly progress reports, dashboards, meeting minutes, and supporting project documentation for UK project teams and clients.
- Coordination & Stakeholder Management: Lead coordination across multidisciplinary teams, including design, commercial, planning, and construction stakeholders, to enable seamless and integrated project delivery. Establish and maintain effective communication between UK and India teams, ensuring clear alignment on deliverables, timelines, responsibilities, and expectations. Lead the planning, organisation, and facilitation of project meetings, workshops, and reviews to support timely decision‑making and delivery.
- Risk, Change & Quality Leadership: Lead the proactive identification, management, and escalation of risks and issues that may impact programme, scope, cost, or delivery commitments. Manage change control processes, including tracking change actions, coordinating submissions and approvals, and leading impact assessments. Drive quality assurance across projects by ensuring adherence to agreed processes, checklists, and WSP project delivery standards.
- Health, Safety & Leadership: Lead and champion strong health, safety, and wellbeing practices across all Project Management commissions. Embed WSP values in project delivery and ensure full compliance with corporate, project‑specific, and legislative requirements. Own adherence to established project governance, QA/QC, and documentation standards, ensuring consistent and auditable delivery.
- Professional Development & Capability Building: Lead continuous professional development by actively building expertise in UK Project Management standards, tools, and best practices. Drive team collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to strengthen capability and maturity within the Project Management function.
Qualifications
Essential: Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline. 15–20 years of Project Management experience in the AEC industry. Working knowledge of Project Management processes and deliverables across the project lifecycle, aligned to RIBA Stages 0–7. Strong communication skills with clear command over spoken and written English. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Comfortable supporting UK and international project teams and working across time zones. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Power BI. Able to work to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Self‑motivated, collaborative, and willing to take ownership of assigned tasks. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, driving timely and high‑quality delivery of project outcomes.
Preferred: Industry‑recognised Project Management Qualification such as ChPP or progress towards professional accreditation. Experience supporting projects delivered for UK or international clients from an India‑based location. Exposure to digital project controls, dashboards, or structured reporting tools.
