A Little More About Your Role… We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate / Associate Director to join our nationwide Environmental Consents team. This strategic role involves delivering multi-disciplinary inputs to energy projects for a broad client base, including some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects supporting the UK’s Net Zero commitments. We seek individuals with a creative spirit, dedication, and a solid background in environmental design, assessment, and management throughout the project lifecycle.

As one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies, WSP is involved in challenging, high-profile projects across sectors, from small developments to major infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team manages environmental inputs across project lifecycles.

As an Associate / Associate Director, you will collaborate with technical environmental specialists and design teams to lead environmental project inputs, improving environmental performance across diverse projects and sectors. This role suits an enthusiastic individual eager to influence, lead, and deliver environmental components of engineering projects, with responsibilities spanning recruitment, bidding, team management, project delivery, and financial oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Expanding our water sector offerings through thought leadership and client engagement
  • Providing environmental advice to clients, project managers, and colleagues
  • Collaborating with environmental specialists, clients, and engineering teams to promote sustainable design
  • Leading complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and safety performance
  • Building client relationships and identifying opportunities for resourcing, strategy, and project support
  • Developing new client relationships and marketing services, including conference presentations
  • Securing new work through proposals, bids, and business development
  • Innovating techniques such as Digital EIA and Technical Excellence
  • Driving team performance and career development
  • Fostering an inclusive, safe, and health-conscious workplace culture
  • Contributing to WSP’s strategic goals with motivation and initiative
