We are ready to hire a number of Assistant Project Managers to join our growing Environmental Project Management team. You will play a key role in multi-disciplinary environmental projects, supporting the Project Manager and Technical Lead to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget. You will report to an Environmental Project Manager and will work on a diverse and exciting range of environmentally lead projects across the UK in both the public and private sectors.

The types of projects that we deliver are highly varied and include some of the UK's most exciting and nationally important large-scale infrastructure schemes (for example National Grid's Great Grid Upgrade, Heathrow Expansion, East-West Rail and Sizewell C), as well as associated developments and programmes for the built environment. Our clients are public and private entities, and key sectors we operate in include highways, rail, aviation, defence, nuclear, residential and property, energy generation and renewables, and transmission and distribution.

We have a broad coverage across the project cycle, from supporting business cases, and securing consents and permits DCO, to design and construct.

A little more about your role… You will:

  • Support the development of project proposals including determining project requirements, scope, resources, programme, and cost estimates (budgets) for project delivery.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing project management documentation including project management plans, cost estimates and forecasts, risk registers, project schedules and stakeholder registers.
  • Coordinate the monitoring and update of project schedules and progress against milestones.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that health and safety information for site visits, including securing internal approvals, are in place.
  • Schedule meetings, take minutes and track actions.
  • Undertake information management activities via industry used Common Data Environments such as SharePoint and ProjectWise.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary environmental project teams consisting of technical and professional staff and suppliers.
  • Assist in the administration of supplier contracts.

Your Team: We are a strong, dedicated, and successful environmentally focused Project Management team looking to grow further to support WSP's robust pipeline of secured projects. We are a centre of excellence and an integral part of our Environment & Consents discipline, where we provide leadership and tailored support on our projects. This encompasses PMO, Project Controls, and Project Manager and Project Director roles; we work across all stages of the project delivery cycle.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • An interest or experience in the environment and or land based sustainable development.
  • Experience of working within a Project or PMO environment, with a preference for a background or interest in environment or sustainability sector.
  • Evidence of being a confident communicator, (both in person and through digital channels).
  • Evidence of collaboration and determination to learn new skills and solve problems.
  • Qualification in a relevant discipline (such as environment, project management, engineering, science, building or quantity surveying) or a combination of relevant project management experience and qualifications.
  • Evidence of commercial and contractual awareness, with the ability to demonstrate financial acumen and analytical skills.
