Join our 2026 Graduate Programme – Building Specialists – Fire, Energy Solutions & Facades role at WSP.
We are looking for Graduates for our Building Specialists teams, who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy.
We are recruiting for Graduates in the following services and locations:
- Fire Engineering: London, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh
- Digital Services: London, Manchester and Glasgow
- Façade Engineering: London and Manchester
- Energy Solutions: Glasgow and London or Leeds
As a Graduate in one of our Building Specialists teams, you will be working on exciting and innovative projects. We are proud of the value we can add to any project through the application of our specialist knowledge to solve client problems.
Our teams work on some prestigious assignments, and you will be helping deliver projects such as:
- Monklands Replacement Hospital, Scotland
- Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle
- New Riverside Stand, Fulham FC
- Control Posts, Heathrow Airport
- Mayfield Republic
Our Building Specialist Teams include:
Fire Engineering: Our Fire Engineering team is involved in the development of the overall fire strategy for a building, which involves the design of fire protection systems within buildings including means of escape, building layout, smoke control, sprinkler systems, reaction to fire of construction materials.
Day-to-day activities could include:
- Producing fire strategy reports for proposed and existing buildings.
- Writing technical design notes.
- Marking up architectural drawings to produce fire strategy plans that outline aspects of the fire strategy.
- Reviewing existing documentation relating to the above.
- Design team meetings – with disciplines both internally and externally, as well as site visits.
- Responding to fire-related queries from other disciples such as IT & Security, facades, MEP, structures, architects etc.
Digital Services: Digital Services lead the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM), information management and visualisation across Property and Buildings.
Day-to-day activities could include:
- Supporting project teams in delivering world-class BIM Digital Advisory, and innovative services.
- Assisting in developing and managing Digital strategies across a project’s life cycle.
- Learning how to coordinate and review BIM models to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Working with senior team members to ensure compliance with BIM standards, including ISO19650.
- Gaining experience using common data environments (e.g., BIM360 Docs, ProjectWise).
- Helping to implement workflows to support digital collaboration across disciplines.
- Contributing to bids and proposals by providing BIM and digital support and thought leadership.
Façade Engineering: Façade Engineering covers the design of building envelopes and encompasses a multitude of skill sets such as structural engineering, environmental design, sustainability, acoustics, fire engineering, materials technology, manufacturing processes, prototype testing and site installation.
Day-to-day activities could include:
- Assisting in the preparation of engineering calculations including analysis of thermal modelling, Building physics and Glass design analysis.
- Assisting in the preparation of design details drawings, sketches & relevant design deliverables for the project.
- Attending sessions to develop and understanding of the various Façade Materials and Engineering aspects.
- Assisting senior members of the team carrying out site inspections to assess façade installations.
- Increasing awareness of basic weather performance issues, basic building physics including ventilation, solar gain control, thermal insulation and glare control.
- Collaborating with other teams gaining an awareness of the problems and constraints of the other major design disciplines such as Architectural, Structures, Building Services/MEP, Fire Engineering, Acoustics etc.
- Improving your competency across various software such as Autodesk Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Flixo, Bisco, Builddesk, Strand, SJ Mepla.
Energy Solutions: Energy Solutions is WSP’s heat networks business. Heat networks are a significant component of the UK’s strategy to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, and our Energy Solutions team specialise in their evaluation, engineering and supervising their construction.
Day-to-day activities could include:
- Getting to know our clients and supporting project managers in a progress meeting.
- Visiting construction sites with one of our engineers to assess construction progress and quality.
- Learning to use new software – both proprietary and bespoke WSP tools.
- Sitting in on a design team meeting and understanding how we interface with other disciplines.
- Helping to create presentations that effectively communicates the outcomes of a report.
- Assisting our bid managers to learn about how we win work.

Our two-year Graduate Development programme is designed to support personal and professional development and growth through an engaging blended learning experience.
We are looking for candidates who have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction management or related field.

- Candidates who pass this initial stage, will then be required to complete an online skill enabler assessment.
- You\’ll be looking to start work in April or September 2026.
