A little more about your role…. As a paid, full-time, permanent employee, you will join a global community of talented engineers, scientists, and advisors. You will receive full training combined with real, on the job learning. You will work with dynamic teams on a variety of projects across multiple sectors from day one. You will ask questions, look at problems from a different angle and help find solutions that break concepts. As an apprentice you will aid shape the communities of tomorrow, embrace change and achieve excellence.
As an Electro-Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprentice in our Energy team in Birmingham you will work alongside a team of experts to support multi-disciplinary services to clients to deliver a net‑zero future. You will work on a range of projects supporting the full range of power generating assets from conventional generation which is vital to provide base and peaking capability to renewable generating assets such as wind and solar.
The Apprenticeship: You will start your Degree Apprenticeship in September 2026, attending the University of Nottingham for block placement, and working towards achieving a full undergraduate degree in Electro‑Mechanical Engineering. You will also have the opportunity to become registered with a relevant professional institution. The apprenticeship supports career growth through blended learning. It offers business and role‑specific training, networking, mentoring, and practical experience. It includes an induction, training days, online content, on‑the‑job learning, and on‑demand resources. Together with the dedicated Early Careers team, support from your team and assigned buddy, we will work closely with you over the course of your apprenticeship to support and plan a development pathway that suits you. Typically, the Degree Apprenticeship takes between 5-6 years to complete (including End Point Assessment in England).
We also have a unique Professional Growth Network (PGN), which is a networking group run by early career professionals for ECP's. It helps to grow your network of contacts across the business as well as providing you with opportunities for extra experience and to support you in achieving chartered status or other professional accreditations.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- 5 GCSE's Grade C/Level 5 or above (or equivalent) including English, Maths and Science.
- Achieved or predicted A Level grades BBB (or equivalent), including Maths at A Level, are required.
- OR achieved or predicted a BTEC Extended Diploma (Level 3) with grades DDM in an engineering‑related subject. This must include a further Maths component.
