The Roads Team at the Truro office is involved in a range of exciting projects on both local and global scales.
These include high-profile projects such as HS2, East West Rail and Sizewell C – some of the biggest infrastructure projects ever to be delivered in the UK.
More locally, the office has played pivotal roles in some of the most significant projects currently shaping the county, such as Langarth Garden Village, Truro Northern Access Road, West Carclaze Garden Village, St Austell – A30 Link Road, and the Chiverton Cross – Carland Cross A30 Upgrade.

This diverse portfolio of projects showcases the team's expertise and commitment to making a significant impact in the field of infrastructure development.
You’ll play a key support role within a high-performing team, helping to coordinate and deliver highways projects efficiently for our clients.
Working with general direction from a Project Manager, you’ll build your project management capability through hands‑on delivery across planning, design and construction stages.
You will
- Support the delivery of highways projects for public and private sector clients across the UK, contributing to planning, design and construction stages.
- Help ensure compliance with WSP quality management systems and project processes and suggesting practical improvements to support efficient delivery.
- Work under general guidance to plan and coordinate assigned work packages, tracking actions, risks, and changes and escalating issues where needed.
- Support contract and commercial administration activities (e. g., tracking deliverables, purchase orders, change control information and timescales) under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Commercial team.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders (with support) to understand requirements, support delivery, and help maintain a positive client experience.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in the UK, supported by remote resources (including India), to coordinate information and meet programme requirements.
- Support multiple project tasks at any given time, prioritising effectively and communicating progress to the wider team.
- Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers and sub-consultants (where required) to help deliver agreed outputs to time, cost and quality expectations.
- Maintain project records and supporting reporting (e. g., meeting minutes, action trackers, schedules, cost tracking inputs) using WSP systems and project tools.
- Contribute to the team’s internal knowledge base and continuous improvement activities, and sharing learning with peers.
- What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- A developing foundation in project management capability.
- A degree (or working towards a degree) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths (STEM), Construction or Project Management equivalent.
- An interest in (or exposure to) NEC contracts and commercial processes; willingness to learn contract administration with support from experienced colleagues.
- Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution (e. g., APM, ICE) is welcomed.
- An interest in highway/infrastructure projects would be beneficial, but we’re primarily looking for strong potential, curiosity and a desire to build a project management career.
- Developing competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling, and commercial awareness, with the confidence to ask questions and escalating appropriately.
- Confidence using common tools such as Excel, Word and Teams, plus willingness to learn WSP project management systems and reporting tools.
- Awareness of design and health & safety responsibilities (e. g., CDM) is beneficial; training and support will be provided to help you build competence.
This opportunity would suit someone in the early stages of their career with experience supporting projects (or a related background in civil engineering, commercial management or quantity surveying) who is looking to develop into a Project Manager over time.
