About the role

The role sits within a Business Finance team aligned to one of our larger UK Disciplines and will report to the Discipline Financial Controller (DFC), depending on the discipline structure. Primary responsibilities of the SFM include helping to drive and oversee the business finance team in their partnering to the operational team leads across their region/service.

Typical responsibilities:

  • Annual budgeting & forecasting in accordance with strategy & business plans.
  • Support operational teams and business finance team during monthly revenue recognition process.
  • Ownership of Profit Centre level management reporting and analysis as well as responsibility to support direct reports in their respective region/service.
  • Ensuring variance between budgets, forecasts and actual results are understood, clearly explained and necessary actions are implemented at both centre and region/service level.
  • Overall responsibility for Project performance review of income, cost to complete, working capital and change control across region/service.
  • Line management of direct reports and responsibility for their development as per agreed goals and areas of focus.
  • Ensuring Corporate Governance, control and best practice is understood and communicated effectively to the business.
  • Wider duties will include deputising in senior management meetings, bid support, financial and strategic integration, commercial training and project team working.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified, with Accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
  • Advanced experience of Business Partnering with a finance background.
  • Experience of team leadership.
  • Internal candidates applying for this role need to have worked at a Finance Manager level and have consistently demonstrated delivery above expectation.
  • Experienced within functional specialism.
  • Experienced in functional or small team leadership.
