Your new role, what’s involved…

  • Developing and presenting lighting concepts, narratives, and design strategies across all RIBA stages.
  • Producing lighting designs, sketches, graphical drawings, specifications, design reports, proposals, lighting calculations and assisting in the preparation of lighting control schematics.
  • Taking part in client-facing discussions with support from senior colleagues, communicating clearly and professionally.
  • Assisting in the production of detailed design drawings, luminaire detailing, and the integration of lighting within architecture and landscape.
  • Helping to gather client requirements and maintaining positive communication with project stakeholders.
  • Contributing technical input to projects from concept through to design development and assisting with delivery on site when required.
  • Attending design and site meetings, tests, surveys, and generating technical reports.
  • Coordinating your work with other disciplines and supporting team-wide collaboration.
  • Supporting the development of project documentation for planning applications, tender submissions, construction packages, and as-built documentation.
  • Applying a sound understanding of standards, legislation and regulations relevant to lighting and the built environment.
  • Staying updated with industry trends and engineering innovations globally.

Your Team

You will contribute to projects across a range of sectors including Commercial, Urban Realm, Transportation and Infrastructure, working with both public- and private-sector clients. You will be part of the Lighting and Energy Solutions team, interacting with specialists in Electrical and EV, Environmental, Local Government, and Strategic Road Network disciplines. You will join a global network of lighting experts and have opportunities to collaborate internationally. We will support you in gaining industry recognition and encourage membership in a professional lighting or design society of your choice. You will have access to regular CPD sessions on a range of relevant and emerging topics. Advanced training programmes will be available to support your personal and professional development. You will join a growing, energetic, multi-disciplinary team that is well respected across the industry.

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • Track record of relevant experience working in a lighting design or related consultancy environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, Lighting Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A good understanding of lighting design principles and exposure to different project types and delivery methods.
  • The ability to contribute to creative lighting concepts that enhance wellbeing and communicate ideas through clear visual and written storytelling.
  • Experience supporting team members and a willingness to learn from more senior designers.
  • A working knowledge of lighting calculation software (e.g., DialuxEvo).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with tools such as Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, 3DS Max or V-Ray is beneficial.
