Responsibilities- Departmental Leadership & Strategy
- Setting and delivering the strategic vision for the Company Commercial department in alignment with the firm’s wider growth plans.
- Leading, motivating, and nurturing a team of solicitors, trainees, and support staff.
- Implementing robust workflows, quality standards, and compliance processes.
- Client Advisory & Complex Work
- Managing your own high-quality caseload including M&A, shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, corporate restructuring, joint ventures, and governance matters.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and high‑value commercial clients across Gloucestershire and beyond.
- Ensuring exceptional service delivery that strengthens WSP’s reputation for clarity, approachability, and expertise.
- Business Development & Profile Building
- Proactively developing new client relationships and nurturing existing ones to drive departmental revenue.
- Collaborating with the Marketing and BD to identify opportunities, attend networking events, and represent the firm externally.
- Playing a central role in firm-wide business development initiatives and strategic projects.
- People Development & Mentoring
- Supervising junior lawyers, providing continual feedback, and supporting career development through coaching and structured progression paths.
- Building a collaborative, high‑performing departmental culture.
- 5+ years PQE in corporate or commercial law
- A proven track record of business development, client relationship management, and generating new work.
