You can work from any of the following offices: Birmingham, Manchester, Wrexham, Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, Truro, Basingstoke, Guildford, London, Cambridge, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, and Carlisle. You will be pivotal in driving the delivery of Civil and Bridge engineering projects and will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will use those attributes to mentor and support junior team members. In this role, your responsibilities will include: Lead and review Bridge design, Lead and review Bridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments, General civil and structural engineering support to other teams, Feasibility studies and options appraisals, Preparation/review of specifications, reports and health and safety risk assessments, Preparation/review of CDM Documentation e.g. Pre-Construction Information Pack, Review of design drawings, Preparation of fee estimates, Supervision of junior members of the team. Qualifications Professional qualification and membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng MICE or MIStructE), Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment, Understanding and experience of Eurocodes and/ or sector-specific codes and standards (e.g. Network Rail standards, DMRB), Experience of finite element analysis software and parametric design techniques, Commercial awareness and experience of managing costs, Good report-writing skills, Experience of leading teams, Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills plus a willingness to adapt to new challenges and to actively participate in the development of others. Team Our Civil and Bridge Engineering teams across the UK are made up of engineers, technicians and project management professionals with a breadth of backgrounds and experience. We are based in WSP’s vibrant city centre offices, alongside other teams from our diverse business, with easy access to public transport and city centre amenities. We work across a huge variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for a wide client base that includes HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors and private sector clients.
