WSP is seeking an enthusiastic Associate to join the Roads team based in Wales, working in either the Cardiff or Wrexham office. You will provide leadership for early‑career professionals and established engineers, manage a portfolio of projects at various stages, and deliver high‑quality engineering solutions that meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engineering solutions for projects or work packages of varying scale and complexity, often across several projects simultaneously.
- Act as a Project and/or Technical Delivery Lead in the planning, programming, pricing and delivery of single complex projects or a portfolio of small to medium‑sized projects.
- Manage project budgets, programmes, financial performance, technical standards and legal requirements.
- Work directly with clients to build trusted relationships, manage expectations and provide comprehensive advice.
- Collaborate within the UK Roads discipline and across the wider Transport and Infrastructure business.
- Use leadership skills to support and inspire team members to achieve project and team goals.
- Lead and manage other staff in all areas of project delivery, and for the right candidate, provide line management.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and in‑house quality assurance standards.
- Coordinate team resources, support the setup of local and national teams, and assign people to the right roles.
- Support the Wales & Southwest Regional Director and leadership team with business strategy implementation and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Passion for design and innovative solutions, with a proven track record of excellence.
- CEng or IEng with post‑professional qualification experience.
- Extensive knowledge of highway infrastructure engineering and design across project life cycles.
- Broad knowledge of relevant design standards and codes of best practice.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve excellence.
- Commercial and risk management and resolution expertise.
- Experience in checking and approving transport studies or construction project reports and designs.
- Ability to win new work.
- Expert client and stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership in health, safety and welfare.
