We have retained the Shropshire Professional Service Contract with key local client, Shropshire Council. WSP works collaboratively as part of the Shropshire Alliance alongside Shropshire Council and Kier to deliver a broad range of exciting projects, providing new and varied opportunities on this contract and within the wider WSP business.
As a senior member of our Road Safety & Traffic Engineering team you will work with our clients to achieve their transport needs and will be a key player in managing traffic engineering and road safety schemes across the region – analysing collision data, undertaking speed management and liaising with our clients to meet their needs.
Main Responsibilities- Leading the design and delivery of general traffic engineering, road safety and active travel schemes.
- Preparing and reviewing reports, drawings, schedules and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance.
- Being responsible for the financial performance of projects.
- Undertaking technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team.
- Being an active and collaborative team member – working with other disciplines and working closely with the Client team.
- Contributing to technical excellence and innovation within the team.
- Potential for line management and mentoring opportunities.
- Track record of leading on Road Safety and Traffic Engineering projects – including general traffic engineering, road safety and active travel schemes.
- Familiarity with relevant design standards such as TSRGD, DMRB, Manual for Streets and the Traffic Signs Manual.
- Writing and implementing traffic regulation orders in line with The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
- Preparing and reviewing technical outputs including drawings, reports, and specifications.
- A good working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and CDM responsibilities.
- Experience of managing project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Effective communication with Clients, Contractors, and other key stakeholders to deliver outputs on time and within budget.
- Delegation of tasks to early‑career professionals and graduates to contribute to their development.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, KeySIGN/LINES/POST software.
