This position is based in our Shrewsbury office with flexible working (office and home). The engineer will oversee complex highway schemes, manage technical teams, prepare NEC4 contracts, and lead multidisciplinary projects from conception to delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee complex highway schemes from conception through to delivery.
- Manage technical resources to meet demanding timescales and budgets.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver outputs on time and within budget.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements, including CDM 2015.
- Develop and support funding applications.
- Produce BIM‑compliant preliminary and detailed design in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW).
- Prepare NEC4 (ECC) contract documents and administer contracts.
- Develop effective relationships with wider WSP teams to draw on additional specialist resources as required.
- Deliver highway projects using a structured, risk‑based approach.
Qualifications
- Full membership of a relevant professional institution, with CEng or IEng status (or working towards).
- Experience in highway or infrastructure project delivery.
- Evidence of leading the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
- Commitment to working collaboratively and innovation.
